Description
Europe, Holy Roman Empire / Germany probably 14th-16th century 'unique' Middle Ages battle axe a primitive yet effective weapon of the peasantry and German city state armies throughout the Holy Roman Empire. The axe socketed and constructed in a heavy gauge iron with unusual 45 degree quarter face that protrudes slightly upward possibly for thrusting and cutting use in the field. Surface is blackened with time and still sharp to the edge, the shaft replaced later but of the 19th century and appropriate length, pin replaced with shaft. size 38 1/2" L, blade 10 1/4" L
