Description
Joseph Kratina (Josef Kratina) (Bohemian Czech American, 1872-1953). A patinated bronze plaque. A figural Art Deco repousse relief religious work depicting Saint Cecilia, venerated as patroness of music and musicians, playing the pipe organ with a chorus of cherub putti angels overhead. Possibly originally produced as a church or altarpiece. Incised to bottom of frame form SAINT CECILIA, and incised vertical artist signature with monogram and dated to lower right KRATINA 1936. The artist's life dates are sometimes listed as 1872-1950.
Dimensions: 18 X 16 X 1 in.
Condition: Good overall vintage condition, with heavy patina and evidence of verdigris. Estate fresh to the market.
