the figures originally fired as biscuit models
both in 18th century dress, the gentleman holding a spyglass and clad in a turquoise frock coat and breeches with floral enamelled waistcoat on naturalistic base with rocaille moulded border, the lady holding a muff and letter clad in an elaborate lace cap with lavender floral enamelled gown and turquoise hooded shawl on corresponding rocaille moulded base, the undersides with underglaze blue crossed sword marks and later scratched triangular marks, 21.5cm high (2)

Condition
She: Restoration to her right hand and the paper in her hand. Spot of restoration to lace edging on her right sleeve. Small area of restoration to skirt corner on her side, and to corner of skirt on other side with a spot of white overpaint. There are tiny chips scattered to the lace edging. Typical minor rubbing to some enamels and gilding details.
He: Tiny flat chips scattered to the edges of the hat and to lace edgings. Chip to hem edge of his coat at back and to the edge of the tree trunk here. Small chip to scrollwork at front of base. Chip gilt chain under his waistcoat, where a corner of biscuit porcelain is still visible (they were biscuit and glazed and decorated at a later date).
