He was knownfor mixing traditional ukiyo-e style and techniques he created himself.Prominent collectors of Jacoulet's work include General DouglasMacArthur, Greta Garbo, Pope Pius XII, and Queen Elizabeth II. Signed tolower right with artist stamp below signature. Framed and matted in modernblack frame. PROVENANCE: The print was originally given to GeneralDouglas MacArthur when he served in Japan during WWII. GeneralMacArthur's son Arthur MacArthur and the consignor's brother met atColumbia University when they were students. Arthur gifted the print to theconsignor's brother, who then gave it to the consignor as a wedding gift.MEASUREMENTS: 15-1/4" high x 11-5/8" wide; 2-1/2"; mat and frame.CONDITION: Laid down. Minor wear to frame.
