Description
The piece features a beaded Buffalo hide flat bag and later signal mirror attributed to the Kiowa Indians. The bag is made of Great American Bison Buffalo hide with long frilly fringes, an original hide tie strap and geometric beadwork done in glass trade seed beads. The beadwork shows colors of greasy yellow, semi-transparent red, medium blue, white and black. The hide is Indian brain tanned. The mirror is in an antique pattern of signal mirror with carved wood frame having a heart cutout, green paint and tacking, the mirror has a modern mirror. The beaded bag has an early appearance. The mirror is 6 ¾ inches long by 2 ½ inches wide. The pouch is 15 inches long by 4 ½ inches wide.
