Item Details
Description
The lot features a fantastic mid-1900’s silver tacked parade saddle attributed to Ted Flowers. This is a large, heavy saddle with wonderful tooled and carved brown and black leather which is heavily adorned with silver studs and nickel plated brass studs. Along with the fancy studded and carved fenders, the saddle shows highly finished tapaderos which are completely covered in silver and nickel studs and conchos. The saddle doesn’t appear to have a maker mark or label. The padded seat measures 15 inches across. Most of the saddle shows this amazing silver and nickel tacked finish, and the pieces that are not tacked show wonderful carved and tooling. Parade saddles were immensely popular in the circa 1930 to 1960’s and have always been immensely rare and collectible. For reference see the pieces done by Ted Flowers, Keyston Bros. of San Francisco, Edward H. Bohlin, Nolte-Olsen (1936-1942), Kahle & Son, Visalia Stock Saddle Co., amongst others. This saddle is not marked but is in nearly the identical pattern as the Ted Flowers Parade Saddle sold by A&S Antique Auction Co. in March 2022 showing the same radiating silver and nickel tacking, tooled and carve working and seat, most definitely by the same maker as ours. A stand is not included. From a Cheyenne, Wyoming Cowboy and Indian collection.
