Description
The front and back are decorated with four-armed lobed floral crosses inlaid in silver, while the depth is finely embellished with small three-petalled flowers and a long plant with faced leaves on a wavy background. Lock with key. A rare object both in its type and in its refined decoration: naturalistic in form and abstract in spirit. The production of this manufactory, developed in Bidar, is characterised by the use of inlays in precious and shining materials (typically silver and occasionally brass or gold) on the zinc, copper, lead and tin alloy base, made even darker by the use of a special paste, containing ammonia salt, that was applied on it. The decorative repertoire was varied, but stylised poppies are among the most common motifs.
