Description
A pair of French Jacob Petit porcelain sets of coffee cups and saucers made in the Neo Rococo manner. The cups are adorned with hand enameled portraits of ladies surrounded by gilded frames and adorned with a floral motif and a gilded geometrical ornament. The saucers are decorated with hand enameled floral and geometrical patterns. Gilded rims. Each ware is marked with a blue ink J. P. mark, on the backside or on the bottom. Circa: late 19th century. Petit porcelain, French hard paste porcelain produced by Jacob Petit Petit worked at the porcelain factory at Sevres as a painter. The high quality porcelain may have been fired in Limoges. The usual colours are pale pink, light green, mauve, black, and gold. The shapes are idiosyncratic interpretations of the 18th century rocaille style typical of the popular preference for the Neo Rococo during Louis Philippes reign. Antique and Vintage European Rococo Porcelain Table and Desk Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
