Manuel Mafra Portuguese Palissy Ware Trompe L'Oeil Dish Circa 1890Naturalistically modeled with four brown toads and two green lizards, on a mossy frit ground, the foot rim pierced for hanging, impressed crowned uppercase mark, CALDAS, PORTUGAL. Diameter 8 1/4 inches.

presents well, clever professional restoration to a u-shaped section to the rim and through the lizard's tails, tiny nick to the tip of one lizard's tongue, minute losses to frit moss, the footrim with three minor glaze losses, probably from kiln furniture, but slightly larger than most, examined under blacklight
