Barack Obama Signed Souvenir Copy of Controversial Birth Certificate
A souvenir copy of 44th U.S. President Barack Obama's birth certificate, boldly signed by him in black felt tip as "B Obama", 1p, 5.75" x 8.5", Honolulu, April 25, 2011. While the birth certificate is a copy of the original, the authentic signature of Obama has been applied right at the center of the paper. In near fine condition, undoubtedly applied prior to printing of the item.
If one lived through the 2008 presidential campaign, one couldn't avoid the controversy and news reports surrounding Barack Obama's birthplace and citizenship, known as the "birther movement". Conspiracy theorists falsely claimed that Obama was ineligible to run for president because they believed he was not a natural-born citizen of the United States. Allegations of his "true" place of birth ranged from Kenya to Indonesia, and even after producing his Hawaiian birth certificate, Obama was still questioned and hounded by birthers and fringe theorists. Theories have continued to persist, but have since fallen in popularity after the April 2011 certified copy of Obama's Certificate of Live Birth (or long-form certificate) was released. It is a copy of this long-form certificate which has been signed.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
