Description
Antique Mauser C78 Zig Zag Revolver This C78 revolver by Mauser is a rare example of the Mauser brothers' only attempt at a revolver. The Mauser C78 "Zig Zag" as it is known, was created in 1878 to compete for the German Military's first metallic cartridge revolver in 1879. Peter Paul Mauser believed this single-action pistol would succeed in part due to the cylinder indexing system that was supposed to more reliably line up the cylinders with the barrel. This revolver was never produced in large numbers, because it was not chosen for service. This example features a wooden grip, with a steel frame that has lost most of the plating. It is a later model likely from the 1880s, with a hinged frame. The serial number is 2143, and the chamber size is unknown. Approximate size: Approximate weight:
