Description
United States Marine Corps officers' Mameluke sword measuring 39" (blade 33"). Sword presents etched blade with central panel identifying sword to "A. C. Gidlewski". Blade exhibits wear and some dulling surface. Grip exhibits crack and presents leather sword knot. Aloysius Constanty Gidlewski (1917-1994) served as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and Korea. He moved to Ottsville, Pennsylvania in 1961 shortly after retiring from the Marines. Provenance: Eugene T.
