Group of Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Majolica Dessert Plates
In various patterns and styles, comprising an 'Ocean, Shell and Seaweed' dessert plate, pattern no. M2934, date code HKI for 1879, molded as a branch of seaweed resting on a large blue and red edged scallop shell, the green border as white-capped ocean waves and sea plants, impressed uppercase mark and L, and iron-red pattern number, diameter 8 3/4 inches; an 'Ocean Shell and Seaweed' dessert plate, date code WKI for 1879, molded as a branch of seaweed resting on a large yellow edged scallop shell, the blue border as white-capped ocean waves and sea plants, impressed uppercase mark and cypher, black pattern no. 2949 and painted 8, diameter 8 3/4 inches; a Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Japonisme turquoise-ground Aesthetic Movement plate, recorded as pattern no. 3433, indistinct date code - -K for 1881, the center molded in the St. Louis pattern with a cluster of chrysanthemums, radiating six textured fan-shaped sections, with flowering prunus sprays and palm leaves, the gray border with half-flowerheads on a chevron band, within yellow line rims, impressed uppercase mark and W, manganese painted 7, diameter 9 inches; and a pierced 'Heron in the Marsh 'Boucher' dessert plate, designed by Théodore Deck, date code BUX for 1869, molded with a heron wading in a marshland among bulrushes and waterlilies, a dragonfly in flight above, the cavetto with a band of half-flowerheads interrupted with clusters of heart-shaped pond leaves, the reticulated border as brown rush basket staves, impressed uppercase mark and S, diameter 9 1/4 inches.
