(i) Not examined out of frame. Light toning throughout. Few spots of smudging and minor staining.
(ii) Not examined out of frame. Sheet is cut irregularly with small losses along the lower edge. Some toning. Minor areas of smudging and staining. Line of white chalk by figure's hat, although this might be artist's process.
(iii) Not examined out of frame. Minor toning. Minor spots of staining.
(iv) The sheet is hinged in two places on the reverse to its underlying support. There is wear to edges, including losses and creases. Some sun bleaching and light mat burn. Scattered areas of surface soiling and staining. Dedication on Whitney Museum of American Art letterhead affixed to frame backing.
