Description
Ca. 700-900 AD.
A striking Khazar sword featuring a long, single-edge pointed blade that speaks to the practicality and effectiveness of its design, and a rectangular hilt with silver riveted fittings that provide a comfortable grip. The bronze guard, which is slightly curved, adds an element of elegance to the sword's design, with opposing ends terminating in spheres. Remnants of silver fittings further accentuate the sword's aesthetic appeal and suggest that it was a prized object in its time. This sword's unique features and quality craftsmanship suggest that it would have been a valuable and sought-after possession for its owner, who would have likely been someone of high social standing.
