Description
Antique Primitive Ice Chopper Scraper, Farmhouse Steel and Wood Handle Ice Chopper, Rustic Farmhouse Find
For your consideration is this antique primitive steel ice chopper. The chopper is constructed of a hand forged steel metal 4 prong tool with a wooden handle. This chopping tool is perfect for your country kitchen decor to hang from a beam or display in a wooden bowl or for use. Will also display well to complete an antique ice box display!!!
The chopper is in very good used antique condition with the blades being discolored in spots, and has oxidation marks, but still has a fairly sharp edge on prongs. Having little rust and no corrosion. One small chip in wood under metal cap. The steel metal cap that protects the wood and helps keep the handle from cracking is loose. The handle and pick fit tightly with no play. I have not cleaned this chopper, as found from a country farmhouse auction with nice aged patina from years of honest use. All complete, solid, and could still be used.
This classic must have farmhouse kitchen tool was used before refrigerators, pre 1880s. Used in the kitchen to break up or break a piece off a large block of ice as delivered to the home.
Tool measures 8 1/4" in length, measures 2-1/4" across the blades and this utensil's handle measures 1-3/4" across. Handle is 3" in length.
