Spenser, Edmund, The Faerie Queene: Disposed into Twelve Bookes Fashioning XII. Morall Vertues, limited to 180 copies, 1923, The Ashendene Press, Chelsea, UK, folio (17.25 x 12.25 inches), leather-backed vellum over boards by W.H. Smith and Son with their stamp, gilt title, printed in black, blue and red, Subiaco type, in double column, initials designed by Graily Hewitt, one of the great fine press books of the 20th century. HORNBY 32. Provenance: deaccessioned from a regional institution; will include a letter of deaccession from the institution.
Condition
Two small library stamps, including one Withdrawn, to the rear blank, otherwise in good condition, outer hinges and spine ends rubbed with some scuffing and losses to the leather, but secure; natural discoloration to the boards; faint foxing visible to the text-block, but the interior is still quite fresh.
