Hiroshige, Hokusai, Sharaku, Utamaro, Yusuzumi and Harunobu, Portfolio of 12 Ukiyo-e Reproductions, includes 2 by each artist, in full color, prints 16 x 10.5 inches, each one loosely housed in window mat with tissue-guard, introductory leaf and blue folder paper folder for each artist, all housed in the original red linen portfolio box 19.75 x 14 x 1.5 inches with title label and clasps, undated, undated, c.1960s. Publisher loosely translates as Takamizawa Research Institute. The name refers to Enji Takamizawa (1870-1927), an infamous printer who made very deceptive facsimiles of well known Japanese prints. Provenance: deaccessioned from a regional institution; will include a letter of deaccession from the institution.
Condition
Prints in good or better condition; folders and mats with some creasing and wear to the corners; linen slipcase faded and edgeworn, top cover bowed, but secure.
