Third Liberty Loan 4 1/4% Gold Bond of 1928 United States - Acts of September 24, 1917, amended April 4, 1918 "Third Liberty Loan" $50 4 1/4% Gold Bond of 1928 May 9, 1918. Issued. Uncertified. Almost Uncirculated. S/N 1005063 Candy Apple Red in color, this vibrant issue is a so-called "long coupon"type with coupons under to the left side of the bond. The earlier "short coupon bonds" could be exchanged for these. This beautiful engraving work from the BEP features a red sunburst undertint emerging from an eternal flame vignette at the bottom. Across the center is a deeper red THIRD LIBERTY / LOAN title. Coupons are in red background and showing an observant Bald Eagle. There is a blue spoked Treasury seal at bottom right.
