American, ca. 1940s to 1950s. A handmade cloth boy doll with embroidered facial features, painted hair, and the initial "DB" with a blue heart painted on his chest. His wardrobe includes an undershirt and shorts, two shirts, two caps, trousers, and a jacket. All are original to the doll, ca. 1940s to early 1950s, and a few extra clothes were made in the 1950s according to the accompanying note which dates to the 1950s - this note is handwritten on a piece of stationary with the date "Wed., Aug. 8, 1956" printed at the bottom. The note offers the following history: "David's Doll (never named) / made by your Great Grandmother Shelton (Gran Gaghagui's mother), Gran G. & Gran Boun made some extra clothes." An endearing doll with clothes that were lovingly stitched and a special note offering a bit of its history. Size: 21" H (53.3 cm)

Condition
Normal wear and stains commensurate with age. Still, in remarkably good condition overall. Accompanying note is torn at upper end but the inscription and printed date are legible.
