Ancient Canosan Terracotta Rider Figure c.4th century BC. Size 5 inches high + Stand. Molded terracotta figure of a youthful male, possibly depicting a rider or an actor, having some remaining white surface ground with orange, pink and brown highlights. Wearing a leafy crown, long draped scarf and small wings on his back. Both lower legs reattached, missing both arms, some loss to headdress leaves and wings, missing tip of right foot and a shallow chip on his buttocks. Old custom lucite base.. Provenance: Collection of Marvin Josephson, NYC. To family by descent. Acquired from Simotti-Rocchi, May 1979.
