A RARE PAIR OF EDWARDIAN SILVER-GILT STAMP BOXES
by Henry John Batson & Albert Edward Batson, London 1901, rectangular with tapering sides and hinged monogrammed cover, boldly relief decorated with birds, scrolls, ribbons and flowerheads, the interiors with two leather-lined wells for stamps, the undersides leather-covered. (2) 10.5cm wide, 19 troy ounces gross
Clear and well-struck marks on the covers and one side of each box. The hinges are in good condition and the lids close well. Crisp and well-defined decoration. A superior quality pair of boxes in very good condition.
