This wonderful Navajo rug was hand woven by artist weaver Ason Yellowhair. Pretty blue and red on a gray background and is done in the Smoke Signal pattern. A similar rug from 1983 describes it as a simple format with nondescript plants and birds that "express a positive and happy outlook on life". Retains original label and measures approx 44" x 66". label appears to be 1970, but could be 1990. Ason Yellowhair began weaving geometric designs before transitioning in the 1950s to pictorial rugs then moving to this current style. She received a lifetime achievement award by Arizona State Museum at University of Arizona. From the collection of Daniel Cutrone, professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, specializing in preserving the four corners of Native American Indians.
