Vasily Grachev, 1831 to 1905, a classic Russian bronze figural group of three horses pulling a sled led by a sleds man leading passage for two persons, named Troika Passage. Circa: 1877. Mounted on a hand carved Malachite base. Signed on the base. Marked, Factory K.F. Werfel, Saint Petersburg, on the base. Vasily Yakovlevich Grachev, 1831 to 1905, was a Russian sculptor, the main competitor to Eugene Lanceray. He stopped modeling after Lancerays death in 1886. Both of them together made a great input to Russian sculptural art by competing and inspiring each other. Grachev used to cast all his works at Woerffel foundry, St. Petersburg.
