Two (2). American. 1850-1880s. Glass, brass. Lamp 1: "Grant", translucent white font, brass connector, cobalt blue glass base. #1 early lip chimney, #1 early burner. Lamp 2: "Grant", blue font, brass connector, black glass base, #1 petal top slip chimney with acid etched design of deer in a forest, #1 burner. Lamp 1: Burner thumbwheel marked, “PATENT.MAY.4.1858 E.F.JONES REISSUE JAN.11.1859”. Lamp 2: Burner thumbwheel marked, “BLAKESLEE’S PAT.(SEP.) BENEDICT AND BURNHAM MFG.CO (?.29.1868)”. Chip to upper corner of 2 of the bases. Chips/roughness to bottom rim of base. Chips to 1 rib on font, chips to lip of chimney. Thuro II - pg. 84c. From the David Broughton Collection.
