VIEW OF GIBRALTAR TO THE EAST CEUTA AND SANDY BAYbyCAPT. G.B. FISHER & J.W. EDYThis very scarce aquatint by highly respected listed engraver John William Edy is in good condition, with light fading. It was published in 1797 at Romney Row, St Johns, Westminster in London. The aquatint measures 27" x 22" in its frame (the frame dates to ca1920's) the actual engraving size is 21" x 15". This is an exceptionally rare print of an exceptionally rare subject.Edy was noted for his association with John Boydell who sent him to Norway were he produced six large aquatints of similar quality to this one. These are less scarce than the Gibraltar engraving.
