Pair of Directoire Parcel-Gilt and Blanc Peinte Fauteuils
late 18th century, each with a backswept crest above a padded back, joined by like arms on bulbous uprights to the padded seat, raised on tapering square legs headed by a floral block capital and ending in paw feet.

Condition
The arms, backs, rails and legs are all tight and the chairs solid and functional. They exhibit considerable paint and gilt loss, and indications of shrinkage. The upholstery retains good shape and firmness in the seats. The armrests on one chair are worn through to the under-upholstery. Otherwise, the covers are free of notable stains, rips or tears.
