French "Boissy" Pinfire Target Pistol with Long BarrelCa. 1860. A highly decorative single shot pin-fire pistol with a very long smooth barrel, smooth bore in 10.6mm (11 calibre). Fine engraved breech and trigger guard with decorative flowers, foliage and the maker’s name ‘BOISSY’ engraved under the barrel on the right side. [I]NOTEHigh Quality French pinfire pistol, either manufactured or retailed by P. Boissy This pistol is very similar to a French Lefaucheux manufactured pistol. This pistol is Civil War Era, and were very popular due to the fact Pinfire cartridges were easier and much faster to load than a muzzle loading black powder firearm. P. Boissy was listed in 1879 in St. Etienne as a Gunmaker on the Rue de la Badouillere 34.
