About the artist: American Robert Freiman — born 1917, in New York City, and deaf from birth — is considered a foremost watercolorist, his exceptional stylistic evolution spanning portraiture and landscapes to, later in his career, metaphysical abstraction. His celebrated works have been collected and exhibited worldwide, including at Whitney Museum of American Art, the Associated American galleries and National Academy of Design, Boston Fine Arts Museum and Le Musee Municipal de Saint-Paul de Vence.
Among his many honors, Pierre Louve, in the London Art News and Review, called Freiman ‘the best American watercolorist since John Marin.’
