Description
Vintage Chinese cloisonne enamel bowl with spider chrysanthemum flowers and bird design on white glaze background with brass swirls [clouds], and the bottom is enameled in turquoise / sky blue; c. mid-twentieth century.
Small cloisonne bowl with scalloped rim, the base metal is brass; 5.1/4" [c.13cm] across, 1.3/4" [4.8cm] deep, no chips, near fine condition.
Cloisonne is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with colored material, enamels or gemstones, held in place or separated by metal strips or wire. Chinese cloisonne is sometimes confused with Canton enamel, a type of painted enamel on copper that is more closely related to overglaze enamels on Chinese porcelain, or enameled glass. In contrast to Cloisonne, Canton enamel is painted on freehand and so does not use metal wire partitions to hold the colors separate.

US: Priority (c.2-4 days) ----------- $14.50
Canada: Priority (c.2-8 weeks) --- $32.50
World: Priority (c.2-8 weeks) ---- $44.50
