Georges Braque (1882-1963) was a French artist known for his significant contributions to the development of Cubism, a revolutionary art movement that transformed the way artists approached representation. Born in Argenteuil, France, Braque began his artistic career as a decorative painter before he met Pablo Picasso in 1907, with whom he developed a close friendship and artistic partnership. Together, they experimented with the principles of Cubism, using multiple perspectives, fragmented forms, and flattened space to depict objects and scenes. Braque's work in this style is characterized by his use of muted colors, intricate patterns, and fragmented imagery, which inspired later generations of artists. After serving in World War I, Braque continued to work as an artist and became increasingly interested in the representation of everyday objects, leading him to develop a style that blended Cubism with Realism. He received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, and his work continues to be celebrated and exhibited around the world.
