Attributed to Clarkson Stanfield (British, 1793-1867) Oil on Canvas
Undated, unsigned, marine coastal seascape including boat and lighthouse, in seemingly original ornate gilt gesso and wood frame
Property from: a Private Collector, Carol Stream, Illinois
Height: 16 1/4 inches, Width: 13 3/4 inches (sight)
Frame Size: 27 3/4 inches by 25 1/2 inches
Condition: Fair, overall moderate wear consistent with age, 0.5-inch or smaller loss in upper left quadrant, more likely resulting from friction / impact than flaking, craquelure throughout but most concentrated in lower half, with areas of separation with some lifting including a smaller than 0.25-inch loss, lower right quadrant, slightly loose canvas throughout, dirt accumulation, painting blacklights well, a single 0.125-inch area of possible inpainting / varnish inconsistency in corner, upper right quadrant, wear to frame including stress cracks in gesso, repairs and occasional losses consistent with original / period framing
