Description

A diminutive English black and gilt japanned chinoiserie decorated bracket timepiece, Elliot, London, 20th century, the square brass dial with silvered chapter ring having Roman hours and Arabic minutes within cast spandrels, the engraved center inscribed to the center 'Elliot / London', 'MADE IN ENGLAND / FRENCH ESCAPEMENT', beneath beveled glass.

Dimensions:Height 9 1/2in; width 6 3/4in; depth 2 1/2in.

Provenance:From a local estate.

Condition

The case with typical marks, rubbing, scuffs, abrasions and surface scratches, especially to gilded surfaces. The metalwork with wear and toning to highpoints. We cannot guarantee the completeness or functionality of the timepiece's movement. At the time the condition report was conducted the timepiece appears to have not been maintaining power after being wound. Displays well.
