Description
Group of two Chinese Qing dynasty Daoguang porcelain plates. Each with a Daoguang seal in iron-red along the underside. One plate depicting two figures in a courtyard surrounded by floral and foliate motifs and gilt decoration. One plate depicting three figures on horseback passing a soldier surrounded by floral and foliate motifs intertwined with butterflies and gilt decoration. Each with a turquoise blue glaze along the underside and decorated with four bats.

Condition
No visible cracks or restoration under UV light. There is a chip to the footrim of the plate captured right in the listing, measuring 1/2 in; to the chip, there is a minute paint loss. No visible chips along the rim. Both plates have wear throughout as expected; they have scattered areas where the gilding has faded, consistent with age, which does not affect the overall work. The plate captured right in the lot listing has a minute green accretion to the rock; to the white building surface, there are areas that are discolored light grey; please see the listing image. Wear to the underside, consistent with age and use. Original firing and glazing flaws along the underside. No visible sign of restoration under UV light.
