Cassius Clay/Hunsaker Signed Gloves, October 28, 1960

Presented here are a pair of oversized sparring gloves signed by Cassius Clay and Tunney Hunsaker. Muhammad Ali's first professional fight at the age of eighteen was held in Louisville, Kentucky on October 29, 1960. This fight was won by Ali in six rounds. The day prior, a press conference was held where Clay signed and Hunsaker signed one of the gloves. On the inside, backhand wrist area of the left hand glove, Cassius Clay signed on the white material in ink, ""Cassius Clay October 28 19-60."" Adjacent to this on the backhand, inside area at wrist below the thumb Tunney Hunsaker has signed this glove in ink, ""Tunney Hunsaker 10/28/60."" On the exterior backhand side of the glove, Auggie Malone, the person who obtained these gloves at the press conference, wrote in gold, ""CASSIUS CLAY"" 1st PRO FIGHT OCTOBER 29, 60' vs ""Tunney HUNSAKER"" FREEDOM HALL LOUISVILLE KY"" and on the thumb, ""W-6 ROUNDS.""
