Description
East Asia, Japan, Meiji period, 1868 to 1912. A bronze articulated model of a crab. Meticulously constructed from numerous hammered plates jointed inside the body to make for a flexible form, the crustacean's limbs and front claws move; surfaces are beautifully incised, some areas are detailed in repousse, and the entire surface presents a warm patina. Jointed and moveable! Size: 3.5" L x 7.75" W (8.9 cm x 19.7 cm)
