An impressive, hand-carved wood food pounder for pulverizing taro - the dominant starchy food of the region - presenting a lengthy form enveloped in a rich, espresso-hued patina. The fascinating implement exhibits a tapered midsection with a singular raised that separates that thick, cylindrical pounding head from the slender, pointed handle, allowing for easy grip. Size: 22.5" L x 2" W (57.2 cm x 5.1 cm)

Condition
Light loss from one side of pounding head, as well as expected nicks, chips, and abrasions throughout, commensurate with use. Minor perforation to top of pounding head. Small loss and stable fissure to handle. Otherwise, very nice with rich patina.
