Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A lovely and wearable sterling silver cuff style bracelet inlaid with polished coral in ornate sawtooth bezel settings. The interior band is stamped "M.C. TSASIE" for an unknown maker. During colonial times, the Spanish introduced this type of red Mediterranean coral to Southwestern Native American tribes, and coral rapidly became a valuable part of Navajo culture and jewelry. Coral which is both a living organism yet also stone-like, was probably associated with the deity, White Seashell Woman. Size: 2.75" Diameter x 1.125" W (7 cm x 2.9 cm); gap opening: 1.5" W (3.8 cm); silver quality: 93%; weight: 73.6 grams

Fissure across one coral inlay, but secure in bezel. Dark patina and toning to silver areas and minor surface wear from previous use. Wearable!
