In the post-Code era, the word "WEIRD" in comic book titles was newsstand poison, so Weird-Science Fantasy became Incredible Science Fiction. There's an oft-repeated and widely-held belief that the Comics Code specifically banned the word "WEIRD" in an effort to undermine EC, but that's untrue. According to the Code's General Standards Part B, line 1, "No comic magazine shall use the words horror or terror in its title." The word "Weird" was not specifically disallowed, but its association with horror mags published by EC, Stanley Morse, Comic Media, Superior and others made it unlikely to pass muster with distributors and retailers, and thus its use was avoided. – See Amy Kiste Nyberg's Seal of Approval: The History of the Comics Code. University Press of Mississippi: 1998, p. 167.
