Description
A French watercolor on paper painting Antibes, le Fort depuis Juan-les-Pins, by Paul Victor Jules Signac, French, 1863 to 1935. The painting depicts a colorful landscape with pine trees growing on the shore of a waterpond with a floating sailboat. Signed and dated 1916, on the lower right. Matted and housed in an old carved wooden frame. Note: Paul Signac was one of the principal French neo-impressionist painters of his time. He was initially influenced by Monet and later he closely associated himself with Georges Seurat in experimenting with the application of dots of color known as Pointillism, which became the basis of Neo-Impressionism.
