Lambalo Kazaks are a less common than other groups of Kazak rugs from the southwest Caucasus.
It is unusual to find examples from the second half of the 19th century such as this since most examples seem to date from the 20th century, and have quite similar formats.
The colours of this rug are excpetionally clear and the dyers managed to achieve a great number of tones of red, blue and green from using a differing number of dye baths and also overdyeing with other dyes.
The repetition of the floral rosettes in the field and main border is particularly pleasing. The border systems are typical of Lambalo rugs and help to locate the rug in the Kazak region but with influence from Talish and Genje area weavings.
