Vintage Majorica Graduated Pearl Necklace, 22", Safety Chain, Original Box, 1960's with original certificate of guarantee in Spanish from Mallorca, Spain. Majorica is a Spanish company that manufactures hand-made pearls called Majorica pearls. Now based in Majorca, the company was founded in 1890 in Barcelona. In 1990, Gems & Gemology described Majorica pearls as "the most widely marketed and meticulously manufactured imitation [pearl] today. The pearls range from 3mm to 8mm and are knotted between. The box clasp is ornate with a pearl mounted on the box clasp and four small clear rhinestones. These are a manufacgured pearl with the look of real pearl. Comes in the original maroon hinged box with crest on the lid and Majorica on the inside of the satin and velvet lined box. Very good condition - great for weddings, proms.
