Description
Set of 2 Cecil Aldin (1870 to 1935) works on paper of sporting scenes, horses, dogs and wildlife. Signed on the left-hand side. The frame measures 16.5" x 12.5". The artwork measures 10" x 6.25. Cecil Aldin was a British artist known for his illustrations and paintings of the English countryside, animals, and the sportsman's lifestyle especially fox hunting. In addition to his oil paintings, Aldin worked as an illustrator for the popular publication The Illustrated London Times, and also provided illustrations for editions of Charles Dickens' The Pickwick Paper and Rudyard Kipling's The Second Jungle Book. After World War I, he painted many equestrian portraits and studies of dogs.
