Description
Robson worked in Buffalo from 1850-1880. He built this stunning German style half stock target rifle that features a 32" octagon barrel with false muzzle in 40 caliber. Master engraved in deep relief Germanic style extending 4" from barrel breech to include the upper tang, both sides of the back action lock and trigger guard with highlights featuring antlered game and hunter. Barrel is marked J.O. ROBESON BUFFALO. Other features include heavy brass swiss butt plate, set trigger, palm rest, lolli pop tang sight, sporting rear barrel sight, globe front sight, walnut half stock with large cheek piece. Condition. Metal is soft gray with brown patina on barrel. Stock is excellent with few impressions, a crack at bottom of fore-arm and some checking around side plate. Bore is really strong and just needs a good cleaning. Action works. ANTIQUE
