An antique 10th-century Persian Nishapur pottery bowl. White dish with black hand-painted Kufic calligraphy and colored rims. Rich tones. Nishapur was one of the great centers of pottery and related arts during the Islamic Golden Age, especially the 9th and 10th centuries. The iconic products of this region was ceramic ware with the Kufic script, the text often contained a proverb in Arabic or a series of blessings.
