Description
This is a terrific and authentic late 19th century black steatite stone peace pipe bowl from the Chippewa Native American Indians of Wisconsin. The pipe bowl is hand carved from black steatite Minnesota pipe stone. The bowl shows signs of being smoked and has a large, wide-faring vase-shaped pipe bowl and tapered prow on the front. The pipe is in well kept condition with no apparent visible cracks or glued repairs. The pipe would be a nice addition to any collection being a well-kept circa 1880’s example with high polish and interesting traditional shape. Provenance: From the ex-Dale Harrison collection of Cincinnati, Ohio. Measures overall 4 ½ inches long by 3 inches high.
