The 1987 Mint Set experienced a surge in collector interest following lackluster sales of the past three years. The increased level of sales for the present set was attributable to the 1987 P&D Kennedy Half Dollars. The denomination was not struck for circulation during the year, making the annual mint set the only way to obtain the coins!!!. There were ten coins included in each Mint Set. This consisted of P&D Kennedy Half Dollars, P&D Washington Quarters, P&D Roosevelt Dimes, P&D Jefferson Nickels, and P&D Lincoln Cents. Each set also included mint tokens from Philadelphia and Denver.
