Description
This lovely French Alencon lace tablecloth dates from the 1920's and is an antique white color. This skillfully made cherished piece is a wonderful example of Machine lace by Leavers mill. The outline is put in by the machine embroidered onto a machine net. It is much closer in design and construction to Normandy Blonde bobbin lace, although it is a machine version.
Background is crisp, excellent quality pure cotton with many lovely machine-made lacy elements. There's hand appliqued cordonnet cording to outline each and every design.
These opulent tablecloths are reminiscent of a very grand and regal period in linens.
