DESCRIPTION: Composition Plate No. 9. Oleg Kudryashov (B. 1932, Russian). Drypoint and watercolor on wove paper. Signed and dated in pencil to lower right, marked 2/3 and titled to lower left. In modern black metal frame. Best known for his constructions, three-dimensional works composed of cut and folded drypoint etchings, Kudryashov is one of the most revered Russian painters and printmakers. With his method of using only one impression and building upon his works in watercolors, each of these pieces was unique. His works can be seen at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Tate in London, and other institutions around the world.
