Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Wucai Qilin Porcelain General Lidded Jars. Potted with a globular vessel, large and tall, short neck, flaring round mouth lip with general helmet dome lid finial bud, raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in rose pink base color which contrast against Wucai design color, depicted of mighty flying qilin through scrolling ruyi, flaming vapors and auspicious ornament. Qilin are thought to be a symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine blue rings. Made in The Years of Kangxi Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
